Washington Hearing and Disabilities Day

Our Eat, Laugh and Learn Breakfast, a Celebration of National Hearing Day has been postponed and become Washington Hearing and Disabilities Day. The event will take place on October 13th at the Old Country Buffet at Lakewood Towne Center in Lakewood. We will update the event information over the next few weeks. We hope to have Dr. Ed Rubel and others speak and perform for your enjoyment.

Dr Edwin Rubel from the University of Washington will reveal his latest discoveries in hearing regeneration on National Hearing Day on May 12, 2010.Dr. Rubel is credited with discovering that birds regenerate their hearing in less than 30 days after damage. Dr. Rubel and his more than 60 associates have become a leader in hair cell regeneration research. He will give us an update on the latest, exciting experiments in hearing regeneration with zebrafish and small mammals. Dr. Rubel has enjoyed working with Rotarians for Hearing Regeneration in facility tours at the research center, the Guiness World Record Breaking Woodstick, and over events like this celebration of National Hearing Day.

The anticipated publicity generated by Rotarians for Hearing Regeneration in developing the breakfast fundraiser is expected to create more awareness of the disability of hearing loss including tinnitus. We need supporters for hearing regeneration research.

Watch Dr. Rubel as he explains tinnitus and the brain in just thirty seconds:
